The UAE Artificial Intelligence Office has run a training programme with Emirates Health Services (EHS) and Siemens to teach EHS leaders, hospital directors, consultants and medical specialists how to use agentic AI in healthcare, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The programme, held to coincide with UAE Codes Day, focuses on moving from AI tools that handle single tasks to connected systems that coordinate work across the patient journey. According to WAM, that runs from patient registration and appointment management through clinical and administrative processes to follow-up after care.

The course includes interactive sessions, demonstrations, regional use cases and hands-on labs with AI tools. It also covers change management, AI governance, risk management and clinical safety. It ends with workshops to identify priority transformation opportunities at EHS, which will be assessed on expected impact, technical readiness, data availability and safety. These will produce initial pilot-project proposals with performance indicators and implementation plans.

Abdelrahman Al Mahmoud, Director at the UAE Government Artificial Intelligence Office, said building leadership skills is fundamental to moving towards AI-powered operating models. "UAE Codes Day is an opportunity to reaffirm that the foundation of our digital future lies in the people empowered to lead it," he said.

Kalthoom Al Blooshi, Director of the Training and Development Centre and Chief Innovation Officer at EHS, said the next phase needs institutional capabilities to identify and develop high-impact AI use cases within clear frameworks for governance, safety and accountability. Rohit Kumar, Head of Siemens Advanta Middle East, said healthcare offers significant opportunities to integrate intelligent technologies across the patient journey.

EHS Director-General Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal attended the programme.

The training follows the federal government's push to move half of its services and operations to agentic AI within two years, a target that puts pressure on large service providers such as EHS, which runs federal hospitals and clinics in the northern emirates. The programme's emphasis on governance and clinical safety reflects the higher stakes of automating healthcare workflows compared with other government services. No timeline was given for the pilots.
