Italy became the second-largest supplier of oil and gas equipment to the UAE in the first half of 2026, the Italian Trade Agency said at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2026), according to WAM.

Italy's share of the market rose to 17.3% in the first six months, from 9.8% in the same period last year, and its exports of this equipment to the UAE were worth €188.5 million, the agency said.

In 2025, Italian exports of oil and gas equipment to the UAE totalled €378.5 million. These included oil and gas pipelines, casing and drilling pipes, gas turbines and compressors. The UAE market for these products grew 38.6% that year to €3.97 billion, and Italy ranked fourth among suppliers, according to the agency's data.

Share Gains Rather Than Volume

Valerio Soldani, the Italian trade commissioner and director of the agency's Dubai office, told WAM on Tuesday that the rise refers to market share rather than export value. He said about a third of Italian machinery and technology exports to the UAE go to the oil, gas and energy sectors. He added that 2025 was a record year for Italian exports to the UAE across all sectors, and that total Italian exports to the country have doubled over the past four years.

Soldani said 169 Italian companies are taking part in ADIPEC this year. The two WAM reports give slightly different counts for the national pavilion: 52 small and medium-sized companies in one, and 50 companies under the agency's umbrella in the other. He said more than 600 Italian companies have a direct presence in the UAE, and that the agency plans to expand its activities in the country, starting with new events in the fourth quarter.

Italy's ambassador to the UAE, Lorenzo Fanara, said energy is one of the main pillars of the relationship between the two countries, covering both oil and gas and clean energy.

The figures show European suppliers competing for a larger share of UAE energy spending as ADNOC and other regional producers invest in capacity. This year's ADIPEC has focused on investment in resilient and smart energy systems. The Italian pavilion is also presenting technologies for decarbonisation and hydrogen.
