Intersec Global, Dubai's annual safety and security trade show, will arrange its 2027 edition around five specialist domains rather than product categories. The organisers say the change reflects how physical and digital risks now overlap, according to a report by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The 28th edition runs from 12 to 14 January 2027 at Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Borders Security Council. Messe Frankfurt Middle East organises the show, with support from the General Command of Dubai Civil Defense and the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA). It will open with the first Global Readiness Summit, which ties in with the UAE's national focus on readiness and resilience. That is also the theme of this month's UAE Government Annual Meetings.
The five domains are National Security and Law Enforcement; Cybersecurity and Resilience; Surveillance and Physical Security; Fire, Rescue and Emergency Response; and Safety and Wellbeing. "Our new interconnected domain model reflects the way risks cascade across physical and digital environments," said Dishan Isaac, the show director at Messe Frankfurt Middle East.
Market Size and Scale
The organisers cited a GRS Security and Safety Market Outlook Report, which Intersec commissioned earlier this year. According to WAM's report, it projects that the global security and safety market will grow by US$390 billion and pass US$1.48 trillion by 2030. They expect more than 1,000 exhibitors, about 200 speakers, more than 14 conferences and features, and visitors from more than 150 countries.
Italy is joining as country partner for the first time. The Italian Trade Agency will run a 240-square-metre national pavilion with 12 exhibitors, according to Valerio Soldani, its director and trade commissioner for the UAE and Oman.
Dubai officials described a growing role for data and AI in public safety. Lieutenant General Expert Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Civil Defense, said the emirate's approach to civil protection is about "anticipating risk before it becomes an emergency, using data and technology to strengthen preparedness and protect human life." Khalifa Ibrahim Alsaleis, chief executive of SIRA, said the surveillance and law enforcement domains will bring together "AI analytics, proactive intelligence, and integrated security" alongside discussions on interoperability.
Intersec is one of the main buying venues for government and enterprise security purchasing in the Gulf. Giving cybersecurity its own domain next to physical security and emergency response makes it easier for buyers to compare integrated systems. The new structure also makes clear that the show expects AI-based analytics to appear across all five domains.
