Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Dubai's Emirates, has launched AI Tech, a dedicated air cargo product for the hardware behind artificial intelligence. The product covers server racks, semiconductors, GPUs, capital equipment and other sensitive equipment, the Emirates Group said in a statement.

The carrier said it moved more than 700 tonnes of AI infrastructure across its global network in July alone, and that demand has kept growing since. Air Cargo News reported the launch on 3 November, and the Emirates Group issued its press release on 4 November.

Badr Abbas, divisional senior vice president at Emirates SkyCargo, said in the statement: "Behind every AI breakthrough is physical infrastructure that needs to arrive safely and on time." He said the airline wants to become "the carrier of choice for companies operating across the AI ecosystem."

What the Product Includes

According to the company, AI Tech shipments get standardised handling procedures that keep equipment upright and reduce the risk of damage. They also get priority loading and scheduling for deployments with tight deadlines. Customers can track shipments from airport to airport, with milestone updates monitored from the carrier's command centre in Dubai. The service also includes specialist support for oversized and heavy project cargo.

The service is available across the Emirates network for most AI-related cargo, including chips and server racks. For highly specialised manufacturing equipment, Emirates SkyCargo said it will assess each station's handling capability in advance.

The company said it expects to operate 23 dedicated freighters by March 2027. Their main decks can carry tall, dense server racks, which often weigh more than 3.5 tonnes. It also sells cargo space on its wide-body passenger aircraft.

Why It Matters

The launch shows Gulf logistics groups competing for business from the global data centre build-out. Large AI deployments involve very valuable cargo, short delivery schedules and equipment that cannot be handled like ordinary freight. Emirates SkyCargo said these factors made moving technology equipment more complex as AI adoption speeds up.

The move came on the same day that Dubai-listed Aramex announced its own logistics service for AI data centre projects in the GCC, Asia and the United States. Both companies are presenting the UAE as a transit and handling hub for the hardware that hyperscalers, neoclouds and sovereign AI programmes are rushing to install. For data centre developers in the region, a dedicated product could mean more predictable delivery of racks and accelerators. Emirates SkyCargo has not published pricing or service-level commitments for the product.
