Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Dubai's Emirates airline, has launched a product for shipping artificial intelligence infrastructure. According to a report in Al Bayan, the carrier said it moved more than 700 tonnes of such equipment across its network in July alone.

The service, called AI Tech, covers AI servers, semiconductors, graphics processing units and other specialised hardware used to build AI computing infrastructure. Emirates SkyCargo said the product combines priority loading and specialised handling with proactive monitoring of shipments from its cargo command centre in Dubai, so that consignments arrive intact and on schedule.

What The Service Offers

According to the report, customers get handling procedures that follow global standards and are meant to protect equipment from damage, along with priority scheduling for urgent shipments. Shipments are tracked from airport to airport, with regular status updates, and the carrier stays in contact with customers throughout transit. Emirates SkyCargo also offers support for oversized and heavy equipment linked to AI projects. Before it moves highly specialised manufacturing equipment, it checks in advance that the terminals involved can handle it safely.

Badr Abbas, senior vice president of Emirates' cargo division, said the product was developed to meet growing demand for moving AI infrastructure safely and on time. He said the carrier aims to become the preferred airline for global companies in the AI ecosystem as demand rises with the sector's rapid growth.

The company said AI Tech builds on experience it already has in carrying AI hardware between manufacturing centres and major technology markets.

Fleet Capacity

The product relies on Emirates SkyCargo's freighter fleet, which the company said will grow to 23 dedicated freighters by March 2027, and on cargo space in the holds of Emirates' wide-body passenger aircraft. The carrier noted that a single server rack can weigh more than 3.5 tonnes, which is why large freighter capacity matters for this kind of cargo.

Why It Matters

The launch shows that the global build-out of data centres is creating its own logistics market. AI servers and chips are high in value and sensitive to handling. Data centre construction schedules usually need them on tight timelines, which favours carriers that can promise priority space and close monitoring. Dubai-listed Aramex has separately launched a data centre logistics service covering equipment from power transformers to AI racks. Gulf logistics groups are positioning themselves between Asian hardware makers and the data centre markets they supply.

The Al Bayan report did not give a formal launch date for AI Tech, pricing, or comparable volumes for months before July.
