Titan OS, a Barcelona-based company that makes an operating system for smart TVs, has raised $46 million in a mix of equity and debt, it said on Wednesday, according to TechCrunch.

The debt facilities come from funds and accounts managed by BlackRock. Existing investors, including Highland Europe and Mangrove Capital Partners, also took part. The start-up raised $58 million last year, and the new round takes its total funding to $110 million.

Titan OS sells TV makers an operating system that earns them money after the sale through free ad-supported television (FAST) channel partnerships and advertising. The company says it now serves 30 million users, up from 18 million a year ago. It has added Sharp, AOC, Vestel and Skyworth as partners over the past year. TechCrunch reported that Philips dropped Google TV and switched to Titan OS for its 2026 models. Titan OS also acts as a sales partner for TiVo in some regions and for Tubi in the UK.

Where the Money Goes

The company said it will spend the funds on partnerships and expansion into more countries, with content discovery as an early priority. It is using interface changes and AI to cut the time viewers spend looking for something to watch, and it also applies AI to ad recommendations and audience segmentation.

Tobias Pfalzgraff, the company's senior vice-president of people and marketing, said Titan OS has no content of its own to promote, unlike platform owners such as Google with YouTube, and so can stay "impartial in our role in content discovery."

The company now has 250 staff and has opened a London office focused on advertising, adding to its offices in Barcelona, Amsterdam and Taipei.

The AI Hardware Squeeze

Titan OS's newly appointed chief financial officer, Hyoungung Kim, tied the company's pitch to the cost pressure on device makers. Making TVs is "not a very profitable business," he told TechCrunch. He said chipset prices keep rising and that, because of the AI boom, manufacturers have "basically doubled down" on their partnership with Titan OS.

The company argues that as AI demand pushes up component costs and gadget sales slow, more manufacturers will want recurring revenue from software and advertising instead of relying on hardware margins. That puts it in competition with Google, Amazon and the TV makers' own operating systems for control of the living-room screen.
