Carmaker ROX has delivered its first batch of 100 vehicles built in the UAE. The vehicles carry the "Made in the Emirates" mark and form part of a UAE Signature Edition, according to reports in Khaleej Times and Gulf News.

The vehicles were produced at the company's AI Manufacturing Center in Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD). The project involved the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). ROX said it built the Abu Dhabi facility in six months. The site combines a manufacturing centre, an AI lab and a design studio.

The delivery follows the start of local production in September. The National reported at the time that the first UAE-made ROX ADAMAS vehicles had come off the line at the KEZAD centre and that the company was targeting annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles by 2030. Semafor described ROX as a Chinese carmaker.

"In a short period, we have established advanced manufacturing, AI and design capabilities that allow us to produce vehicles locally and serve customers across the region," said Jarvis, ROX's founder and chief executive.

Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, undersecretary of MoIAT, said the 100 vehicles carry "strategic value" in attracting further investment and building industrial resilience "particularly amid global supply chain challenges." The project is supported under the ministry's Make it in the Emirates initiative and Operation 300bn, the national industrial strategy.

Mohammad Ali Al Kamali, chief trade and industry officer at ADIO, said the company's progress shows how investment can be turned into industrial capability in the emirate.

Why It Matters

Vehicle manufacturing is a new sector for the UAE. Abu Dhabi has been using investment incentives and free zone infrastructure to attract foreign carmakers as part of its industrial diversification. A first delivery batch of 100 vehicles is small next to the stated 2030 capacity target, but it moves the project from announcement to output. The pace of the next phase, toward the 300,000-vehicle goal and the deeper local supply chains officials describe, will show whether Abu Dhabi can become a meaningful vehicle production base for regional markets.
