Pure DC, the Oaktree-backed data centre developer with campuses in Europe and Abu Dhabi, has arranged a new borrowing framework of about $1.9 billion. The money will pay for new developments and site purchases across Europe and the Middle East.
The company said in a press release that the package is a $780 million Platform Growth Facility with a $1.1 billion accordion. The accordion is an option to borrow more later, not committed money, so the headline figure depends on Pure DC drawing on it. Citigroup Global Markets, First Abu Dhabi Bank and the French infrastructure debt manager Infranity are new lenders. ABN AMRO, Allianz Global Investors and SMBC are returning from Pure DC's existing bank group.
The deal matters because of who is lending. Investors have been questioning how much AI data centre capacity will be built and who will pay for it. Pure DC has instead added banks, including the UAE's largest lender, at a time when the company is shifting towards large AI training campuses. It said the facility brings the financing it has announced over the past 12 months to more than $6.2 billion.
Gary Wojtaszek, Pure DC's executive chairman and interim chief executive, said in the release that "attracting new lenders and broadening our funding base is a strong endorsement of Pure's differentiated strategy." Chief financial officer Mike Schwartz said the new banks and investors showed confidence in the company's assets, customer relationships and record of delivering projects. Bloomberg, which first reported the deal, quoted Wojtaszek as saying the money would go towards general corporate purposes and to buying land and securing energy for more data centres.
The Earlier Rounds
The new facility follows two large financings this year. In May, Pure DC announced $2.7 billion in funding. That included a $2.15 billion facility secured against its Dublin and Amsterdam campuses and an increase in its corporate financing to $550 million. In July, it secured €1.3 billion of committed senior debt for the first phase of an AI campus at Seinäjoki in Finland.
The company says it has more than 1 gigawatt of capacity either live or under development. Its plan centres on sites with secured power for large AI training campuses, linked to smaller data centres that run inference, the work of serving AI models to users. Pure DC is backed by Oaktree, which is part of Brookfield's credit platform.
The Abu Dhabi Campus
Pure DC's Middle East business is built around AUH01, a hyperscale campus on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi that went live in 2025. In April, DatacenterDynamics reported that Abu Dhabi utility TAQA had given final approval to raise the site's IT capacity from 41MW to 48MW. The release names AUH01 among the company's campuses but does not say how much of the new facility will go to Middle East projects, and it names no new sites in the region.
FAB's place in the lender group gives a UAE bank a direct stake in the operator's next phase of growth. Pure DC has not said when it expects to draw on the $1.1 billion accordion.
