Lockheed Martin held a ceremony in Abu Dhabi to graduate 57 interns from the hands-on training programme at its Center for Innovation and Security Solutions (CISS), according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Dan Moton, the company's vice president and chief executive for the Middle East, hosted the event with CISS director Hala Majeed. Government, industry, academic and diplomatic officials attended.

The graduates presented four projects built with Lockheed Martin engineers in AI, modelling and simulation:

AI Ops, a system that gives technicians real-time guidance during manufacturing and assembly.

ModSim, a high-fidelity cockpit simulator for pilot training and mission rehearsal.

GAIT, an AI tool that automates parts of the design of gearbox component layouts, which WAM said could cut engineering effort and design costs.

OV-1 Interactive, an AI tool that creates complex interactive simulations from plain-language commands.

Majeed said the UAE's goal of building advanced industries depends on people with technical skills and practical experience. She said the centre lets talented students work with the company's engineers and mentors on real problems. "By investing in this talent today, we contribute to preparing a generation of engineers, scientists and technology leaders who will support the future of the UAE," she said, according to WAM's Arabic report.

The centre was founded in 2014. Its projects follow UAE national priorities, including AI, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, aerospace, space exploration and operational analysis. More than 350 students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics have graduated from its merit-based internship programme since it began in 2017. Thirty alumni, who now work in government and industry across the UAE, attended this year's ceremony.

The programme shows how foreign defence contractors are linking their UAE presence to the country's push for local technical talent, and how AI tools for design, manufacturing and training are becoming a core part of that work.
