Etihad GO Telecom, the Saudi operator listed as Etihad Atheeb Telecommunication Company, has awarded a SAR185.9 million contract to build the infrastructure for a cloud-based AI data centre. TechAfrica News reported the award, citing the company's disclosure.
The contract went to Total Technical Triangle Company, known as 3T, on October 29, 2026. It is worth SAR185,912,402 excluding VAT, which Reuters, via Zawya, put at about $49.6 million. 3T is an authorised Dell Technologies partner and will deliver Dell computing systems fitted with Nvidia graphics processing units, according to the report.
The work covers the supply and installation of the data centre's infrastructure, together with the servers, hardware, systems and technical licences needed to run and manage it, in line with agreed technical specifications. GO said it expects implementation to take 12 months.
The company said the financial impact will be determined once the requirements and procedures for signing the contract are complete, and that it will disclose any material developments.
Renting Out AI Capacity
GO described the project as part of its strategy to expand its AI and cloud computing services, which it plans to offer to government and private-sector customers through its business unit. That puts a smaller Saudi telecom operator into the market for locally hosted GPU capacity, which the kingdom's larger players and new national AI companies are also building out.
For Saudi enterprises and government agencies that want AI computing hosted in the country, the deal adds another domestic provider. It also shows how regional telecom operators are trying to earn more from their data centre and enterprise businesses by renting out accelerated computing rather than only connectivity.
The contract is modest compared with the multibillion-dollar AI infrastructure projects announced across the Gulf this year. Pricing, capacity in megawatts or GPU numbers, and the location of the facility were not disclosed in the reports.
