ENOC Opens ZOOM Store With Amazon's Just Walk Out Checkout in Dubai

The store is at ENOC's service station opposite City Walk, according to ITP.net. ENOC says it is the first deployment of Just Walk Out in the Middle East. Nakoda could not independently confirm that claim.

The system uses cameras, sensors and machine learning to track which products customers take from the shelves. Shoppers pay with a bank card or mobile wallet as they leave, and are charged for the items they took.

The opening is the first visible result of a strategic partnership that ENOC and Amazon UAE announced in October 2025. Under that memorandum of understanding, Amazon said it would explore bringing Just Walk Out to ZOOM stores at selected locations. The partnership also covers turning some ENOC sites into fulfilment hubs to speed up last-mile delivery and listing ENOC products on Amazon.ae, which would let customers buy them online for the first time. The companies said at the time that further initiatives would be announced over the following months.

For ENOC, which runs ZOOM stores across its UAE network and in other Gulf markets, checkout-free shopping is a way to speed up quick stops at fuel stations, where most purchases are small and time-sensitive. For Amazon, the Dubai store adds a fuel-station operator to a list of third-party Just Walk Out users that includes stadiums, airports and university campuses, at a time when it has scaled back the technology in its own grocery stores.

Checkout-free systems that track shoppers with cameras have raised privacy and workforce questions elsewhere, and neither company has said how customer data from the Dubai store will be handled.

Neither company has said how many more ZOOM stores will get the technology or when.
