Cars24, the automotive technology group with operations in India, the UAE and Australia, has brought Dubai premium used-car retailer Alba Cars into its group, the two companies said in an announcement carried by Gulf News and Khaleej Times on Tuesday.
The businesses described the deal as joining forces. Under the transaction, the operating businesses behind Alba Cars are now part of the wider Cars24 global group. The companies did not disclose financial terms.
Together they sell more than 1,000 vehicles a month across the UAE, which the companies said makes them one of the country's largest automotive retail operations. Alba Cars, founded in 2015 like Cars24, has more than 200 staff and sells about 300 vehicles a month across more than 20 brands, according to the announcement.
Alba Cars will keep operating under its own brand with its existing team and leadership. Some support operations and infrastructure will be gradually integrated with Cars24.
What Each Side Brings
Cars24 contributes its technology platform, vehicle financing, refurbishment capacity and infrastructure. Alba Cars brings a premium retail presence, established customer relationships, digital marketing experience and a known brand in Dubai. The companies said customers should see more vehicle choice, better financing options and stronger after-sales service, and that they plan to invest in digital capabilities and infrastructure and expand further in the region.
"We share a strong vision for the future and see this as an important step towards our ambition of building one of the largest automotive businesses in the region," said Abhinav Gupta, chief executive of Cars24 Arabia.
Talib Alrubai, Alba Cars' founder and chief executive, said joining Cars24 was "an exciting next chapter" and that the group's technology, infrastructure and international experience would help take the business "to an entirely new level."
Why It Matters
The deal fits a pattern in used-car retail, where online platforms are buying or partnering with established showroom dealers. They want physical sites, inventory and local customer relationships that are hard to build from an app, while dealers want access to financing, technology and scale. The model mixes online and in-person selling.
For Cars24, which came to the UAE as an online-first marketplace, adding a premium Dubai dealer gives it a higher-end retail presence in one of its main overseas markets. For the UAE's competitive pre-owned market, it means more volume is concentrated in a technology-led group that also offers financing, which could increase pressure on smaller independent dealers.
The announcement gave no figures for Cars24's own UAE sales or for how the combined business will be structured financially, so it is not possible to measure the deal's size against the market from the information released.
