ADIB Offers 24/7 Real-Time Transfers to Egyptian Bank Accounts Through Visa Direct

Customers start the transfers in the ADIB Mobile App, and the money arrives in real time, including outside banking hours, at weekends and on public holidays, the bank said in a press release on Thursday.

ADIB described Egypt as one of the UAE's most important remittance corridors, used by senders to support their families and cover everyday financial needs. The UAE has a large Egyptian expatriate workforce, and the new service puts the bank in competition with exchange houses and app-based remittance providers on speed outside normal banking hours. ADIB also has operations in Egypt.

The Egypt service is the latest addition to ADIB Remit, the cross-border transfer product the bank developed with Visa in 2025, which connects ADIB customers to the card company's Visa Direct payments network. According to the release, Visa Direct can deliver funds to more than 18 billion eligible cards, digital wallets and accounts worldwide.

The release did not give transfer limits, fees, exchange rates or the number of Egyptian banks whose customers can receive the transfers, and it did not quote any ADIB or Visa executives.

ADIB was founded in 1997 and is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. It reported total assets of AED 318 billion as of September 30, 2026, and also operates in Iraq, the United Kingdom and Qatar.

The bank did not say whether it plans to offer the same round-the-clock bank-account payouts in other corridors.
